Narushi Ikeda
- Date of Birth:
- September 27, 1962
- Height:
- 173cm
He began his acting career with the Third Stage in 1982, and over the years has received great praise for his performances in works by notable stage writers and performers such as Kouhei Tsuka, Koki Mitani, David Leveaux, Kankuro Kudo, and many others. Despite most often playing a supporting role, he has a reputation for bringing another layer of depth to the shows he stars in, due to his powerful presence on stage. Further, his ability to demonstrate “cool” and “uncool” simultaneously, in a completely unique way,is what makes him one of Japan’s most critically acclaimed actors. Narushi is also a force to be reckoned with when it comes to film and TV—working closely with writers to deliver powerful performances in works such as episode 4 (New Song) of THE BASTARD AND THE BEAUTIFUL WORLD (Director: Yuichi Kodama), Dear Etranger (Director: Yukiko Mishima), HK: Forbidden Superhero (Director: Yuichi Fukuda), and Hitori Shizuka (Director: Hideyuki Hirayama), playing a variety of offbeat characters, from a suspicious figure, to someone unable to eat. In 2013, Narushi earned high praise and Individual Awards from the 48th Kinokuniya Theatre Awards for his performances in Ikiume’s Beast Pillar Collection: The Library of Life (Second Half) and NODA MAP’s Miwa.
