He joined the Ikiume theatre company in 2010, and immediately went on to play the jarringly powerful role of the junior high school student, who, despite a cute appearance, is actually an alien who has come down to invade earth, in Ikiume’s masterpiece, Before We Vanish (in addition to starring in the film adaptation of the same, directed by Kiyoshi Kurosawa). He also starred in the 2016 remake where he played the same role, masterfully depicting jealously and pride in front of the alien character’s human counterparts. Hitoe also performs in outside roles, such as the New National Theatre, Tokyo’s Yakiniku Dragon (Wui Shin Chong, 2016), and made his big screen debut in the 2013 movie Robo-G (Director: Shinobu Yaguchi). In the Robo-G side story, Eve of the Robot Wars, Hitoe starred as a character obsessed with robots. Now, in 2019, he continues to build on his prolific career, starring in films like Mornings of the Closed Ward (Director: Hideyuki Hirayama). Instantly recognizable by his high-pitched voice and pure looks, Hitoe also embodies a multitude of hidden qualities that allow him to play a wide range of characters—from high school students to full-blown adults—while channeling emotions to suit every role perfectly.
