Kumi Takiuchi
- Date of Birth:
- October 21, 1989
- Height:
- 167cm
She began her career as a model when she was in high school. At the age of 18, she moved to Tokyo and entered Otsuma Woman’s University. She graduated with a teacher’s license, but later realized that teaching wasn’t what she truly desired to do. So, in 2012, she decided to become an actress. Within six months, she had already landed the leading role of Grateful Dead (Director: Eiji Uchida, 2014). The following year, she gave another stellar performance, playing the role of the calculating policewoman in Twisted Justice (Director: Kazuya Shiraishi, 2015). In Side Job. (Director: Ryuichi Hiroki, 2017), she once again played the leading role—a local public sector employee living at a temporary dwelling in Fukushima, while working as a call girl in Tokyo on weekends. Her ability to sensitively express her character’s feelings earned her a nomination for Best Actress at the 42nd Hochi Film Awards and the 72nd Mainichi Film Awards, and wins as Best New Actress at the 27th Japanese Professional Movie Awards, and Best Actress at the Zenkokueiren Awards (2017). More recently, she played the leading role in the upcoming short film, Mirror, in the 21st Century Girl anthology, and the heroine in It feels so good (Director: Haruhiko Arai), which will both be released in 2019 and the Best Actress award at the 93th Kinema Junpo Awards.
