He joined Ikiume in 2003, and has since starred in Before We Vanish (made into a film directed by Kiyoshi Kurosawa in 2017), Sun (made into a film directed by Yu Irie in 2016), and Natural Enemy. His petite frame, at 157cm, serves him well, enabling him to almost float around during his performances. In 2018, he received critical acclaim for his role in Ge Ge Ge Teacher (Draft: Shigeru Mizuki; Screenplay and Direction: Tomohiro Maekawa), where he masterfully depicted the unique non-human characters created by Tomohiro Maekawa. In the NHK TV drama, Ashigirl, he played an infantryman during the civil war era—bringing an entirely new air of reality to the character. Sou is a fantastic actor who is uniquely able to express the free nature of life, while at the same time, its deep sadness.
